In Sérédou, the Sainte-Ursule farming and training centre of Mount Ziama welcomes young people, women and producers to learn through practice. In the fields, livestock units and workshops, training connects practical skills with running an activity. By October 2026, more than two hundred people had benefited from it.

Learning in the fields

Vegetables, staple crops and fruit provide a setting for practical learning. Soil preparation, crop rotation, composting and water management are among the skills taught. Learners observe, experiment and take part in production.

Learning to raise livestock

Poultry, pigs, rabbits and snails complement crop production. The livestock units are also places of learning, where participants study animal feeding, disease prevention and hygiene. Managing the finances of the activity forms part of this practical training.

Processing local produce

Flour, gari, spices, juices and jams take agricultural production a step further. Women play a central role in the processing workshops, which cover hygiene, packaging, preservation and selling the products. Training also includes managing a small business and its income.
